Chelsea transfer news: Daniele Rugani agent says Blues offer will be heard – but £40m Juventus defender not pushing for move

DANIELE RUGANI’S agent has insisted the defender is happy at Juventus with Chelsea interested in his signature.

But he offered boss Maurizio Sarri a small glimmer of hope by claiming “a request will be heard.”

Sarri is a long-term admirer of Rugani with the pair having a close working relationship during his two year loan spell at Empoli in 2013.

Rugani then returned to the Old Lady and was the subject of intense transfer speculation when Sarri was appointed boss of Napoli.

And now the Italian boss is ready to make another move, this time as manager of Chelsea.

Reports claim the Blues are prepared to part with £40million to land the 23-year-old who has started just 33 times over the last two Serie A campaigns.

Juventus would be more willing to sell to a club abroad rather than a league rival.

When asked whether his client could make the Stamford Bridge switch, Rugani’s agent Daniele Torchia told Tuttomercatoweb: “I am happy for Sarri because no one believes he could get there and instead here his is coaching Chelsea.

“Everyone thinks that [Rugani] follows him to Chelsea, but it must be considered that Juventus also did not accept any negotiations in the past, either with Napoli nor with any other teams and has always expressed the will to keep the player and today that has not changed.

“To date, that will has not changed and Rugani himself has not expressed a willingness to go elsewhere.

“However, it must also be said that if there is a request it will be heard because in football, respect is needed.”

Crowe, 17, impressed for England Under-17’s at the European Championship and the Tractor Boys are keen to tie him down to his first professional contract.

Goal claims United have stepped up their interest and are willing to shell out £500,000 for his signature.

Crowe has risen through the ranks at Portman Road but has yet to make his senior debut.

But a switch to Germany could be tempting as more young kids make the move to play senior football and continue their development.

Jadon Sancho snubbed Manchester City to join Borussia Dortmund last summer for £8million, and the moves already looks to be paying off as the winger made 12 appearances last season.

RB Leipzig have already beaten United to 16-year-old left back Matthew Bondswell and will be looking to repeat the trick with Crowe.

Everton winger Ademola Lookman enjoyed a loan stint at the Red Bull Arena last year and the club are keen to take him on a permanent deal.

Monchengladbach are no strangers to signing young English talent.

They took West ham defender Reece Oxford on loan last year and signed Crystal Palace defender Mandela Egbo two years ago.

Sarri said: “I am very happy to be coming to Chelsea and the Premier League. It is an exciting new period in my career.

“I look forward to starting work and meeting the players on Monday ahead of travelling to Australia, where I will be able to get to know the squad and begin our match action.

“I hope we can provide some entertaining football for our fans, and that we will be competing for trophies at the end of the season, which is what this club deserves.”

Director Marina Granovskaia added: “We are delighted to welcome Maurizio and are looking forward to him bringing his football philosophy to Chelsea.

“Maurizio’s Napoli side played some of the most exciting football in Europe, impressing with their attacking approach and dynamism, and his coaching methods significantly improved the players at his disposal.

“He has plenty of experience in Serie A and the Champions League and we know he is relishing the chance to work in the Premier League.”

Sarri led Napoli to two second-place finishes during his three years in charge.

He joined the Serie A club in 2015 after leading Empoli to the top flight and the Blues job is his first overseas.

Sarri must work out what to do with returning loanees Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Michy Batshuayi, Kurt Zouma and emerging rookies Ethan Ampadu, Charly Musonda, Tammy Abraham and Dujon Sterling.

However, excitement will be growing amongst the Stamford Bridge faithful following his arrival.

And even Gary Lineker appears to be looking forward to seeing how Chelsea play under the Italian.

The England icon and Match of the Day presenter wrote on Twitter: “Maurizio Sarri is the new @ChelseaFC coach.

“If he creates a team as entertaining to watch as Napoli were under his stewardship then Chelsea’s fans are in for a treat.”

Sarri is also expected to have a familiar face helping him to settle in West London.

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola is expected to be announced this week as part of the new manager’s backroom team.
